A major programmatic requirement of this total renovation of a villa in the suburbs of Paris involved providing handicapped accessibility for visitors. In this elegant reworking of the original back porch, both ramp and staircase off the Dining Room and Kitchen doors land on a stone patio, graciously connecting the villa to the rear yard. Steel grating was used for traction on the ramp while the porch floor itself is made of structural glass slabs in order to maximize light to basement spaces below.
