"Architecture is the thoughtful making of space."
—Louis KahnWashington, DC
Front half of client’s childhood home is salvaged and jacked-up two feet above basement walls (by the same firm that moved the Cape Hatteras lighthouse inland). Additions at sides and rear harmonize with existing bungalow to create a new whole. Extensive glass in south-facing stair bay floods core of house with light. Family Room floor located midway between the main level and basement to allow for a more direct connection to the back yard.
