Located in a neo-renaissance building designed by Jakob-Solomon Kroch in 1897, the apartment had very good bones but was sorely in need of rearranging and updating of the Kitchen and Bathroom spaces. Distinctive heavy woodwork — trim, doors, windows — and corner tile stoves in the Living Room, Foyer, and Bedrooms were lovingly restored. The traditional detailing comfortably coexists with very modern fixtures, cabinets and counters in the Kitchen and Bathroom. A beam and pilasters were added at the end of the ill-defined Foyer to separate it from the functional zone of the apartment. The inboard end of a very long and skinny Bedroom was amputated to create a Mudroom.
