Accessibility needs provided an opportunity for transformative interventions respectful to the classic brick and laminated timber arch structure. Additional square footage was constructed within the footprint of the original building by shoring the roof over the demolished one story wing and reconstructing two levels of space instead. This allowed for a substantial increase in Lobby space on the main level while providing space for ADA accessible Bathrooms on the lower level. Light floods the Lobby through aluminum curtain walls with staggered horizontal mullions reminiscent of the original wood window systems. Three shades of glass hint at stained glass. Modern cantilevered porches protect all of the entries to the building.
