By maintaining the pattern of one-story front porches and intentionally moving the center of gravity of the house toward the rear of the property, this large new six bedroom bungalow does not seem out of scale with the existing houses on the street. Client-requested west-facing Deck was accommodated above the Screened Porch. Light floods the center of the house though south-facing windows in the winding Stair located off the Dining Room. Craftsman details, such as window seats, niches, and built-in cabinetry permeate the house. Throughout the open floor plan on the main level, individual spaces are differentiated in more subtle ways such as the use of a continuous wood frieze to define the Dining Room.
