The current phase in the decades-long construction of the Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine (UCNS) of the Holy Family is the installation of iconography. The main feature of the iconography program will be the traditional Eastern-rite iconostas -- a screen wall separating the altar area from the nave. The geometric design of the iconostas structure is evocative of Ukrainian decorative arts and decidedly modern to reinforce the character of the existing space. Gold-anodized aluminum framing members will support icons and doors. Open areas in the iconostas will provide glimpses into the altar area.
